Dreamscape Hotel Blockmesh

This is my Dreamscape Hotel Level. Last week, I conceptualized the design in a document and this week I worked on blockmeshing the entire level out. I go over the level blockmesh in the above presentation video.

In this level, the player will awaken in their hotel room. They’ll soon realize that they are in a dream when they are able to go through portal-like doors. The player’s objective is to get to the rooftop and jump off in order to wake themselves up. The player has optional objectives including collecting subliminal messages, counting sheep, and finding the alarm clock, subconscious key, and teddy bear.

I modeled this design after vintage hotels, and I think it turned out pretty well. It was pretty fun to make a level that was inside of a dream, since I could push the boundaries of realism and create unique areas. Next week, I’ll be implementing the mechanics and making the game fully functional. After that, I’ll be doing a post mortem that’ll include the original design document and go more into depth about the level itself. Stay tuned!
